Motorcycling in Adelaide, 1979-1980
In the years 1979-1981, I was a dedicated motorcycle enthusiast based in Adelaide, and eventually became the SA Editor of Australian Motorcycle News (AMCN), and a founding member of the M.R.A. of South Australia.
Also a keen photographer, I shot rolls of black & white and colour slide film on my beloved Canon AE-1.
Many of the rolls and slides had survived, and what to do with them was always a concern. They were my personal experience, so I was emotionally attached to the things, and they were also genuine South Australian motorcycling history.
Scanning technology has allowed me to save the images in digital format and create this website (my friend Jamie did all the hard work).
I figure it’s only a small amount of people who will be interested, but they may find it useful, and it might even bring back some happy memories.
My memory of events can be patchy, or even non-existent, so any information is greatly appreciated. Also, the images of people here are published in good faith, however some may not want to be included. If so, please do not hesitate to contact me.
This is not expert photography, and I’ve done my best to scan and edit each image. It represent a small slice of one rider’s personal (and wonderful) experience of motorcycling in Adelaide, 1979-1980.
